The Vtg Stencil series of fonts from astype are based on real world stencils. The UK No. 2 design was derived from authentic one inch A2 Roman stencil plates from Great Britain, manufactured around the 1950s.

The drummer in a band of confident, edgy editorial typefaces Bridge Text brings rhythm and clarity to longform reading. With crisp character, sparkling texture and driving asymmetrical counters, Bridge Text refines Bridge Head’s graphic qualities for note perfect, highly readable text at smaller sizes. Slightly narrow proportions, moderate stroke contrast and an ample x-height ensure Bridge Text is clear and efficient. Unlike other superfamilies, Bridge Head and Bridge Text are distinguished by more than optical adjustments. Letterforms and details are opened out or simplified for body text. Close up, the two-cornered counter shape that gives text a crisp character appears. Step back, and a smooth, calm texture for print publishing and digital media emerges. The daughter of classical Didone typefaces, Bridge has a vertical stress and a modern treatment. Captura is a friendly, geometric, sans-serif typeface family reduced to the essential attributes. It was designed by Anita Jürgeleit. It underlines your design, whether it is based on an eccentric or discreet characteristic. Headlines are looking great and text content remains legible with this workhorse font family. Twelve styles, small caps, and an expanded set of numbers match your magazines, infographics, menu cards, stationery, and advertising or movie titles. This monospaced version of Galix was commissioned in 2037 by the space exploration company Earth2, as part of a major overhaul of their branding, which had used, since 2021, a generic sans serif (much like every other company). Many specialists in both design and space exploration suggested that this very rebrand started a chain of events that concluded with the invention of time travel in 2041. Contrary to the perceived notion put forward in popular Science Fiction, time travel is only (as of now) possible in the digital realm. It was considered fitting that included among the first files sent back in time should be the Galix Mono typeface, which was remade in OTF format to ensure that it would work with the technology available in 2019. Earth2, for all their insight, did not foresee that the release of the typeface in September of 2019, would lessen the impact of their rebrand. What kind idiots would rebrand a forward looking company with a font that was, by then, almost 18 years old? The subsequent lacklustre response to the redesign didn’t inspire the tidal wave of R&D funding Earth2 had anticipated, and the company went into administration in the summer of 2039, having never invented the time travel which made the release of Galix Mono in 2019 possible. Experts believe that the files sent back in time, although their very sending made it impossible for them to be sent, remained as “time relics” of the future that might have been.

Bionik is a squarish serif, especially designed for contemporary typography on print and screen. The super ellipse-based forms and high x-height allow large and open letterforms, perfectly adapted to the pixel grid on screen. With light rounded corners Bionik provides a soft and friendly atmosphere. Austera Text is a clean and structural humanist font face whose purpose is to be clear while don't interferes with the message concept. Austera Text is a contemporary serif with moderate contrast, sharp shapes, fairly large x-height and moderate aperture with the aim to make it very legible in continuous text. The italic version has a unique appearance with its pronounced angle mixed whit its elongate beginning and ending strokes. Although Austera Text was created to be used in continuous text, it also could be applied to many other uses obtaining nice results, from editorial and corporate design to advertising, packaging and digital design. Niko is a contemporary, humanist sans with a friendly yet clear and distinct personality. It is designed for excellent legibility, particularly for long continuous reading. They're wings, hard or rounded, simply type out a name or word then place a wing on each side or use the center wing with each side wing and layer a word over the top. You'll also find a Unicase E in Marlin Geo, when creating the uppercase Schwa glyph I thought, well why not flip it over and add it as a Unicase letter which perfectly compliments the geometric style of this font? What about the numbers in Marlin Geo? Does it have oldstyle and tabular figures? don't worry about it we've got you covered. In saltwater fishing the Marlin fish is considered the King of the ocean and a royal symbol in some cultures. So put on your flip flops then explore and discover the possibilities the all new Marlin font family has to offer. This next part is a story I'd like to share with you, it's about a man named Ric. Six years ago on a warm summer day I was cleaning out my garage and putting junk out on the curb for garbage pick up, a couple of hours went by and a man pulls up in his pickup truck, he gets out and starts looking through my garbage for anything he could sell at a yard sale. I invited him to come back to my garage to see if there was anything else he wanted for his yard sale, he accepted and backed his truck into my driveway. He was a man in his late sixties or early seventies with what appeared to be advanced arthritis in his knees so it took him a while to walk down to my garage. As we where loading items into his truck he asked me what I did for a living, I said that I work in pool construction and design type fonts, the man's eye light up with excitement, he said I'm Frederic Goudy's great nephew, I was named after my uncle, Goudy is my middle name but you can call me Ric. Frederic Goudy Bendel is his name aka Ric Bendel, Ric is a jazz musician in the Chicago area, he came by for a couple more weekends and helped me clean more junk out of my garage. I wish I had more time to sit and talk with Ric, however, care giving for family was still a big part of my life at the time.
